Architecture of Columbia Center

Columbia Center was planned to be of 1,005 feet height. Since it proved to be hindrance on the flight path of SeaTac Airport, the floor-to-floor height was reduced by 6 inches, maintaining the same number of levels. The Columbia Center features 8,816 windows. The height of the rooftop is about 1,042.5 feet above sea level. Fourth Avenue entrance is at 110 feet above sea level and Fifth Avenue entrance at 160 feet. There are 3 interlocking geometric curves giving the appearance of a three-tower design, though the internal planning of the tower is symmetrical and unified. The last 2 top floors of the building - the 75th and 76th houses the private Columbia Tower Club. This club is home to a remarkable restaurant, bar, meeting rooms and library. An underground tunnel (used publicly) connects the Columbia Center to the nearby Seattle Municipal Tower and Bank of America at the Fifth Avenue Plaza.
