Santa Fe is the capital of New Mexico a U.S. state. It is the principal city that encompasses all of Santa Fe County. The city was earlier the capital of Nuevo Mexico, a province of New Spain explored by Coronado. In 1912, New Mexico became the country's 47th state, with Santa Fe as its capital. The city was made a capital in1610 making it the oldest capital city. It is also the second oldest surviving city founded by the European colonists. The city is well known for many arts.
