San Francisco Vacation

In the 1990's when the dot com boom was showering San Francisco with opulence, prices of hotels, restaurants and real estate were soaring sky high. However, after the saturation the city had to tone down its ostentatious prices and vacation ing for a weekend now is more affordable here. But it really is fulfilling to visit this cultural hub on the Left Coast.

The best part about visiting San Francisco is that one can be gazing at the artifacts in a museum in the morning or idle away on a hill in the afternoon. Cultural attractions interspersed with exotic natural beauty makes the place irresistible to any vacationer.

While on a vacation to the city it is advisable to never miss some of the city landmarks like the infamous former penitentiary on Alcatraz Island or the beautiful Golden Gate Bridge spanning across an area of 4200 feet or Lombard Street, renowned to be the 'crookedest' street in the world. For some adventure and activity, Fisherman's Wharf is a great destination. For a complete family vacation, the Exploratium and Pier 39 should never be missed.

When visiting San Francisco some of the more chic neighborhoods that demand some exploration are; Chinatown, Haight-Ashbury, North Beach, Union Square and the Castro. For a relatively smaller sightseeing the Muir Woods National Park is appropriate. But some of the more popular side trips which do not claim special mentioning are the Cable car and a walk through the by-lanes of the city, and within the vineyards in Napa Valley. They have somehow become a compulsory part on any vacationers' list.

Some popular restaurants that must be checked out in San Francisco are Gary Danko and Dottie's True Blue Cafe. For the luxury preferring vacationer the Omni and Ritz-Carlton hotels are best suited, but there are also other, moderately priced hotels like the Boheme and Rex. San Francisco has also opened up some budget hotels recently like the Nob Hill Motor Inn or the hotel Carlton, San Francisco.

Art, culture, shopping, entertainment, the beaches and hills, all make San Francisco a must-visit holiday destination in the US for any vacationer.
