PHOENIX TRANSPORTATION

Mass Transit: Public transportation is run by the Valley Metro, which operates a series of buses in the city. Currently, there is no subway or rail system in the city, although Valley Metro is currently developing Valley Metro Rail, a light rail project. Amtrak provides train services in Arizona with bus transfers to Phoenix.

Airports: The main airport of Phoenix is the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. It is one of the busiest airports in America. It handled more than 36 million travelers in the year 2000. The William Gateway Airport in the suburb of Mesa also serves the city.

Taxis: Taxi fares are not regulated in Phoenix, except at the airport. The metro area is so huge that one-way fares often run higher than $50. Thus, it is often cheaper to rent a car for a day.

Online Booking of Flights: The major airlines that fly through Phoenix airports are American West Airlines, Continental Airlines, United Airlines, etc. You can book flights to and from Phoenix online.
