Wachovia center in Philadelphia is Philadelphia's first choice when it comes to hosting any sports, cultural shows or political conventions. In fact, it is the premier choice when it comes to hosting hockey and basketball.
Located in South Philadelphia at the southeast corner of this neighborhood's sports complex, the Wachovia center indoor arena was inaugurated on the eve of the World Cup Hockey Tournament in 1996 after an estimated amount of $206 million was spent on its construction. In that year game one of the World Cup hockey was held here. Ever since the center has established itself as the numero - uno choice in the city when it comes to hosting any important event in the city. Events span across a wide variety ranging from Flyers Home Games to Ice Capade performances to concerts by Madonna and KISS. Two major hockey teams in the US use Wachovia Center as their home ground. Two such major teams are 76ers and Wings.

Wachovia center holds equal charm and attraction for visitors and locals alike. The numerous national and local food courts within its vicinity supplements this attraction. In addition the center also provides some major facilities like allowing to hold private parties for 200 to 20000 guests within its arena. A behind the scenes tour is also available for interested visitors which include the locker rooms, the microbrewery and the press box.
There are sitting accommodations for over 21600 spectators during basketball and for 19519 spectators during hockey. There are 126 luxury suites and 1880 club seats. Located at 3601 Broad Street the area is not conducive for parking during an ongoing concert and so it is advisable to use the Suburban rail Station when traveling to Wachovia center . The center has also started hosting WWF shows within its premises.
Currently celebrating its 10 th anniversary the Wachovia center is busy making renovations on all its current facilities as well as trying to incorporate some new ones.
