Introduction of Philadelphia Phillies
Philadelphia Phillies is one of the franchises of the National League in the 19th century. However, the foundation of the Philadelphia Phillies Baseball Club can be traced back as early as 1883. Initially, the team was known by the name of the “Philadelphia Quakers”. However, with the beginning of the 20th century, the team selected Baker Bowl to be its home and decided to start their baseball activities from there. But things did not work out well for them and they were forced to relocate themselves in the Connie Mack Stadium.
Achievements of the Philadelphia Phillies
|
In the history of Philadelphia Phillies, they are known to have won a single World Series Championship in 1980, playing against the Kansas City Royals. Apart from their World Series title in 1980, the team also has appeared in four other World Series Baseball Games, in the years 1915, 1950,
1983 and 1993 respectively. However, these appearances proved to be complete failures on the part of the Philadelphia Phillies, as they lost to the Boston Red Sox in 1915, to the New York Yankees in 1950, the Baltimore Orioles in 1983, to the Toronto Blue Jays in 1993.
However, after a series of successive defeats since 1915, on 30th September 2007 the Philadelphia Phillies emerged victorious in the NL East Division for the first time, since 1993. In this game, the team fought and won against the New York Mets, who were so long the permanent winner.
In fact, the achievement of Philadelphia Phillies lies in the fact that it was the last team to earn the First World Series baseball title, among 16 original National League and American teams.
