Penn Alexander School


Penn Alexander School is a new university-aided public elementary school, which was opened in September 2001 with kindergarten and first grade. The state-of-the-art new building of the school was opened in September 2002, with classrooms for grades K, 1, 2, 5 and 6. By 2004, the school expanded to accommodate 700 students in grades PreK-8.

The huge campus of Penn Alexander School sprawls over five acres. It is located between 42nd and 43rd streets from Locust to Spruce Streets. The National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities has awarded the school with a "gold standard" for delivering the most effective, research based educational exercises in the classroom. The school building is housed in a park-like setting that features a rain garden, a playground, a science garden, a playing field, amphitheater and a seating area.
