Fairmount Park is a splendidly beautiful park surrounded by Kelly and Martin Luther King Drives of Schuylkill River. Covering more than 9,200 acres of land, the park occupies 10% of the land in Philadelphia including both the City and County.
Fairmount Park enjoys the distinction of being called one of the largest urban parks in the USA. 63 regional parks and parks of the neighboring areas constitutes the Park. East and West Parks, Tacony Creek Park, Franklin D. Roosevelt Park, Penny Pack Park, Wissahickon Valley Park, and Poquessing Park, are the larger parks of Fairmount Park. Rittenhouse, Center, Washington Squares Franklin and Logan also form a part of Fairmount Park
Administrative Units of Fairmount Park
For the maintenance and preservation of the huge Fairmount Park a number of administrative units are involved. The City of Philadelphia owns the Fairmount

Park and the preservation and protection of the park is its sole responsibility. The Fairmount Park Commission makes rules regulations and policies related to Fairmount Park. These rules and regulations are followed by the Fairmount Park staff and employees of the City of Philadelphia. The Fairmount Park Conservancy, a non profit organization looks after the fund raising aspect of the Fairmount Park.
The Fairmount Park Art Association and Fairmount Park Historic Preservation Trust are the two other organizations that care for the park. The Fairmount Park Art Association is involved in the preservation commissioning and interpretation of public art in Philadelphia.
Apart from trees plants and flowers there are many art works in Fairmount Park that has added to its charm and glamour. Fairmount Park in Philadelphia is the huge green patch in the city where people can enjoy a leisurely stroll, sit back and relax. It is also a favorite place for kids where they can play and have fun.
