As a professional football team of the United States of America, the Philadelphia Eagle is headquartered at the Pennsylvanian capital city of Philadelphia. The participation of the Philadelphia Eagle in the National Football League or NFL in 1933 is considered to be a significant turn in the career graph of the team. At present, the Philadelphia Eagle has to its credit 3 NFL soccer titles. The team has also participated twice in the Super Bowl, in 1980 and 2004 respectively.
Gradual Rise of the Philadelphia Eagle Soccer Team
The Philadelphia Eagle first experience with soccer was when it became a part of the National Football League, along with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the inoperative Cincinnati Reds. In the first phase of its career, the team had to struggle immensely, undergoing a series of loses. However, the team merged with the Pittsburgh Steelers to form the “ Phil-Pitt Steagles” team in 1943, on a temporary basis. It was since the later part of the 1940s that there was no looking back for the Philadelphia Eagle. The team led by the head coach Earle Greasy Neale participated in three successive NFL Championship Games, and emerged victorious in two of them in 1948 and 1949 respectively. These twin victories identified the Philadelphia Eagles to be the sole soccer team in Philadelphia to win the NFL Championship repeatedly.
