The Philadelphia District Attorney's Office serves as a body, representing the oppressed and victimized people of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It raises voice in favor of victims of crime and corruption. They protect the society through efficient, legal investigations and required proceedings. It is the largest prosecutor's office of Pennsylvania. The office of Philadelphia District Attorney serves more than 1.5 million citizens within the City and County of Philadelphia. The office comprises around 600 lawyers, support staff and detectives. The structure of Philadelphia District Attorney's Office consists of six divisions, namely Executive or Administration, Investigations, Trials, Law, Juvenile and Narcotics. The District Attorney's Office is liable for prosecution of more than 75,000 criminal cases annually.

The Juvenile Division of Philadelphia District Attorney's Office looks into matters like child support enforcement, Juvenile Court, habitual offender, youth aid panel and many other aspects. The Trial Division is the largest one in the office. The staff of this division reviews, charges, prepares and prosecutes majority of the crimes committed by the adults, ranging from minor offenses to homicide. The crimes such as family violence and sexual assault, felony waiver, victim or witness services are also dealt in this division. The major trials are carried out in municipal court, motions
and community court. This division of the office prosecutes around 65,000 cases annually. The Law Division is responsible for appeals, civil litigation, PCRA, federal litigation, legislation and C.L.E. This division represents the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania at every level of the appellate process in both the state and federal courts. Narcotics Division investigates and prosecutes narcotics encroachments, through procedures like electronic investigation and federal prosecution to demolish major trafficking organizations.

The various locations of Philadelphia District Attorney's Office include the main office at The Widener Building, Three South Penn Square, Private Criminal Complaint Office at South 11th Street, Criminal Justice Center at Filbert Street, Child Support Enforcement Center at South 11th Street and Juvenile Court Unit at Arch Street in Philadelphia.

The post of District Philadelphia Attorney has been won by Lynne Abraham since 1991, winning her re-election ventures in 1993, 1997, 2001 and 2005 too. Abraham specially targets to fight against crime by prosecuting criminals and applying state of art prevention methods to reduce crime throughout the City. The Philadelphia District Attorney's Office effectively takes upon necessary initiatives to mobilize the community and revitalize it by checking crime.
