New London is a city in the U.S. state of Connecticut. Earlier known as "Nameaug", the city officially received its current name on March 10, 1658. In 1784, the independent legislature of Connecticut made New London one of the first two cities brought from de facto to formalized incorporations. The city grew rapidly and became a well-built one. It is a city in New London County.
Area & Location: Located at the mouth of the Thames River and on the northeastern shore of Long Island Sound, New London is located at 41°32' Latitude North and 72°09' Longitude West. the city has a total area of 27.9 sq. km with14.3 sq. km of land and 13.5 sq. km of water. It has a population of 26,174 with a density of 805 per sq. km.
