Downtown Minneapolis comprises of the neighborhoods of downtown West and Downtown East. The Downtown Minneapolis Neighborhood Association is located in the Twin Cities of St. Paul and Minnesota. It is organized and operated to promote the common welfare of the community.
The Downtown West neighborhood forms the core of downtown Minneapolis. It extends from the Mississippi River to the Fifth Avenue South. With most of the office building space in the metropolitan area of the Twin Cities, the downtown Minneapolis has many corporate headquarters and hotels. The west neighborhood is also the home of Minnesota Orchestra.
Downtown east is located in the center of the city. The area has mainly recreational land including Metrodome plus commercial, industrial and vacant land. Only a very small amount of this neighborhood is dedicated to residential housing. Many of the old mills and factories have now been converted for commercial and residential purposes.
Downtown Minneapolis is easily walkable in any season and there are many sights to visit in this area. The area is home to many fine stores, more than 30 theaters, two world-class art museums and three professional sports teams. Much of the downtown Minneapolis is connected by a system of covered second-story skyways, which helps to keep the city running even on the coldest days.

Many streets in downtown Minneapolis run parallel to the Mississippi River while some others run diagonally and not all of them cross the river.
The area experiences an average temperature of 18ºF in the months of December and February. However, temperatures drop down to 12ºF in the month of January.
The downtown Minneapolis is the home of the University of St. Thomas and many schools as well. The area is ever-changing and has a lively community with something to offer according to the taste of everybody.
