Customs and Traditions: Elvis Presley has an iconic status in the history of Memphis. Elvis' home, Graceland, sets up a life-size nativity scene for the Christmas holidays. A little distance away from this nativity scene sits a Santa in his sleigh, with his reindeer ready to take off to distribute gifts to the children. There is a note from Elvis every year on the lawn, wishing the fans a Merry Christmas. This is what Elvis used to do every year when he lived in Graceland. The 13.6-acre Graceland also has on display some of Elvis' personal effects.
