Madison was inhabited by Native Americans for more twelve thousand years. Their existence dates back to times when settlers had not yet set foot on America, much before the discovery of the land by Christopher Columbus. It was only with the beginning of the 19 th century that immigrants began to appear on the soils of Madison. By 1837 Yankee, Irish, English, German and Scandinavian settlers started to arrive at Madison.

Madison is the land of four beautiful lakes that have given Madison the epithet of ‘The City of Four Lakes'. The four lakes are Lake Monona, Lake Kegonsa, Lake Waubesa and Lake Mendota. The climate of Madison is of temperate kind. The summers in Madison record high temperatures while in winter temperatures fall below freezing point. Winters here are accompanied with heavy snowfall
