Lahaina is a town in the U.S state of Hawaii. The name Lahaina means "cruel sun". Before the unification of the islands, in 1795, Kamehameha the Great sacked the town. From 1820 to 1845, Lahaina was the capital of the Kingdom of Hawaii. It was a National Historic District and has also served as a whaling port and central location for the missionaries.



Area & Location: Located in West Maui, Lahaina is situated at 20°53'10" Latitude North and 156°40'29" Longitude West. It covers a total area of 18.1 sq. km with 14.9 sq. km of land and 3.2 sq. km of water. It has a population of 9,118.
