Kansas City is a city in the U.S state of Missouri. Kansas was established as a town in 1850. The city derived its name from a trading post in the area. The city is nicknamed the 'City of Fountains' for the large number of fountains it holds. The city, which had a great role in the Civil War, grew rapidly after the war. It is the largest city in all four of its counties.
Area & Location: Lies at the junction of the Missouri and Kansas rivers, the city is located along the boundary between Missouri and Kansas. The city lies between 39°06' Latitude North and 94°35' Longitude West. The city occupies a total area of 823.7 sq. km with 812.1 sq. km land and 11.6 sq. km of water. It has a population of 444,965 making it the most populous city in Missouri, the seventh largest city in the Midwest and the 40th most populous city in the United States.
