Jefferson, Missouri

Jefferson City is the capital of the U.S state of Missouri. The city was named in honor of Thomas Jefferson, the third president of the United States of America. The city replaces St Charles and became the capital of the city in 1821. It was earlier known by the names Lohman's Landing and Missouriopolis. It was incorporated as a city in 1839. During the American Civil War, Union troops occupied the city. It is the county seat of Cole County and the principal city of the Jefferson City.
