Jacksonville' s first public library was initiated when in the last half of the nineteenth century May Moore and Florence Murphy opened the 'Jacksonville Library and Literary Association'. This association can be called the mother association that created the first public library in Jacksonville. After passing through the establishment in several buildings ultimately it found its home in North- Eastern part of Adams and Ocean. Today Jacksonville Public Library has about twenty one branches also.
