Jacksonville in Duval county can boast of its international airport. Jacksonville International Airport has umpteen number of facilities for the passengers and it is still under further improvement. More than five millions of passengers are served by Jacksonville International Airport every year. This airport that has started serving the passengers from the middle of the last century, has its own history.
Jacksonville International Airport was built to give facilities to a comparatively more advanced group of people coming from different metro areas. Previously it was not spacious enough. Moreover Jacksonville International Airport was then not in the improved condition as it is in now. For all these reasons the number of passengers were also limited at that time. But then through several development programs Jacksonville International Airport has ultimately got a truly international standard.
Previously to accommodate the passengers and for their facility the arriving and the departing terminals were divided into two separate ways in opposite direction. But then a more innovative and modern facility was applied which is still there. Now the departing passengers take the upper level way and the arriving passengers avail the lower part of the terminal of Jackson International Airport.

At present this airport has two concreted runways of 'V' shape. There are development plans of building two more parallel runways in Jacksonville International Airport.
In this airport there are the facility of three concourses . But a development plan of converting concourse number A and C into a more spacious concourses with more number of entrances has already been taken. This new improvement plan has started last year and will make the airport more improved with a number of state-of-art facilities.
In the existing three concourses there are a number of airlines that provide service in Jacksonville International Airport . These are again different regarding the three concourses. In concourse A there are Delta Airlines, Northwest Airlines , Northwest Airlink etc. In concourse B there are Express Jet Airlines , Frontier Airlines, United Airlines, US Airways and so on. And in concourse C there are, American Airlines , American Eagle, Continental Airlines, Continental Express and so on. But in Jacksonville International Airport only Delta Airlines is the service provider that is scheduled.
Jacksonville International Airport is still undergoing lots of improvements to get a whole new look and facilities.
