The deep cold waters of Jackson Lake are the ideal breeding grounds for several species of fish, Brown trout, Lake trout, Cutthroat trout, Salmon and Pike being the most abundant kinds found in the waters of Jackson Lake. Fishing in Jackson Lake is a very popular sport. The main fishing season begins after the snow starts melting in early May. This is the time when the hungry fishes, after the long winters, come up to the brinks of the lake for baitfish making them most vulnerable to fishermen. With the progress of summer the waters of the lake turns warmer which drives the fishes to deeper waters. This is the time when fishing along the shore becomes more difficult. Fishermen then try to catch their prey with longer fishing lines.
Autumn is the time for fishes to lay their eggs in the Jackson Lake just before the waters start turning cold. This is the time when the Jackson Lake remains closed to protect the spawning of fishes. Fishermen are not allowed to fish in the lake from September to October.
Winter ice-fishing is also practiced in the Jackson Lake. The season for ice fishing starts in January. This is the best time to catch fattened up trout.
The beauty of the Jackson Lake never fails to impress visitors who come to this lake.
