America Falls Idaho is a city in the Power County of Idaho, USA. The city of America Falls is a county seat of Power County. It is part of the Idaho Metropolitan Statistical Area. It was also the first town to be entirely shifted from one place to another. This was just done to facilitate the construction of the nearby American Falls Dam. The total population is 4,111 at present. America Falls Idaho was named after the falls of the same name built on the Snake River.
The construction of the Great Dam began in the year 1923 and the cornerstone was laid in 1925. The dam backs up a reservoir of 1, 700, 00 acre feet of water and extends into three counties—Power, Bingham and Bannock.
The weather in America Falls Idaho is influenced by the maritime influences. The summers are usually hot and long while winters are cool with sudden precipitation. However, the winter season is not harsh and cold weather below zero for long is unusual.
