Grand Junction derives its name from its location on the Colorado (formerly known Grand) river. The biggest city on the western slope of Colorado's Rocky Mountains, it is located in a rugged and scenic region of the state. On your traveling journey to Grand Junction , you should not miss the rugged cliffs, mesas and the winding Colorado River.

The city sprawls like many western towns and the historic sections run east-west along the U. S-6 corridor.
