Flagstaff is a city in the US state of Arizona. The permanent settlement in the city began in 1876. By 1880, it began to develop by the establishment of post office and railroad industry. In 1886, Flagstaff was the biggest city on the main line between Albuquerque and the West Coast. It was incorporated as a city in 1928. The city is now a community rich with cultural diversity, beauty and history. It is also the county seat of Coconino County and the largest city on Interstate 40 west of Albuquerque.

Area & Location: Located in northern Arizona, the city lies near the southwestern edge of the Colorado Plateau. The city lies south of San Francisco Peaks and is situated at 35º11'57? Latitude North and 111º37'52? Longitude West. It has a total area of 164.8 sq. km with 164.7 sq. km of land and 0.1 sq. km of water. Around 57, 038 people reside in the city with a density of 321.2 per sq. km.

Transportation: Flagstaff's Pulliam Airport serves the city. Flagstaff is an important railroad town. Flagstaff bus station handles several buses that ply through other important areas. It also has an extensive road network. Route 66 that passes through the city connects it with other regions. The city is the northern terminus of interstate 17.
