Evansville is a city in the U.S state of Indiana. Laid out in 1817, the city was named in honor of one of its founders, Robert Morgan Evans. It then became a commercial town and was incorporated in 1819. Evansville was chartered as a city in 1847. It is the third-largest city in the state of Indiana and is the county seat of Vanderburgh County.



Area & Location: Located in Vanderburgh County, the city lies between 37°58'38" Latitude North and 87°33'2" Longitude West. The city occupies a total area of 105.6 sq. km with 105.4 sq. km of land and 0.2 sq. km of water. Around 121,582 reside in the city with a density 1,153.4 per sq. km.
