Durango is a city in the US state of Colorado. The town organized in September 1880 by the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad derived its name after Durango in Spain, which was originated from the Basque word "Urango" meaning "water town". It is the county seat of La Plata County.
Area & Location: As a city in La Planta County, Durango is located at 37°16' Latitude North and 107°52' Longitude West. The city, which covers a total area of 17.6 sq. km has an elevation of 1988 meters. Around 13,922 people reside in the city.
