Located approximately 250 miles north of the Gulf of Mexico, Dallas has a humid sub tropical type of climate. The climate is influenced by its proximity to the head waters of the Trinity River and the 500 to 800 feet elevation of the surrounding hills.

Temperature variations between night and day tend to be moderate, during summer with a difference that can reach 21°F. The nights in summer rarely exceed 80°F. Residents use air conditioners in rooms and vehicles to keep cool in the summer. Precipitation also varies considerably, ranging from less than 20 to more than 50 inches.
