Dallas is the third largest city of Texas and the ninth largest city in the US. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 385.0 square miles (997.1 kmē). Out of these 342.5 square miles (887.2 kmē) of it are land and 42.5 square miles (110.0 kmē) of it (11.03%) is water.
Geology
Dallas , and its surrounding area, are mostly flat and lie at an elevation ranging from 450 to 550 feet (137 to 168 m).
Climate
Dallas has a humid subtropical climate. Hot and dry winds blow from the north and west in the summer. In the winter, strong cold fronts from the north pass moves through Dallas, brining down temperatures well below freezing.
Dallas receives approximately 37.1 inches (941.1 mm) of rain per year, much of which is delivered in the spring. The average annual snowfall in Dallas is 2.5 inches (6.35 cm), with snowfall seen six days of the year.
