Branson Missouri is known as the “Family Friendly Las Vegas”. Branson MO is also famous as the “Live Music Capital of the World”. With an area of 42.3 sq.km, Branson is located in Taney County in Missouri. Branson was named after one of the earliest entrepreneurs in the area, a storekeeper and merchant called Rueben Branson. Originally planned as a center for shipment of Lumber, Branson today, is a preferred travel destination because of it's scenic beauty, excellent golf courses, retail haven and activities like fly fishing and water sports.
Early History of Branson
Originally intended as a lumber transportation yard, Branson came into being in the 1880s. Named after local business owner and proprietor of the local post office, Branson was famous for it's tomato canning industry. In 1903, plans were made to establish Branson as an industrial center. However 1904 onwards, Branson gained fame as a tourist destination after the Marvel Caves and a book called “The Shepherd of the Hills” popularized the area. 1914 saw the civic authorities install camping grounds on Lake Taneycomo and set up a bathing beach. In 1959, Branson became a draw for vaudeville audiences with it's first production, The Baldknobbers Hillbilly Jamboree Show.

Climate in Branson
Located in the Ozark Mountains, Branson's climate is temperate. The four seasons have distinctive weather. The Summer months of June, July and August are warm and humid with annual high temperatures reaching 90 o F. Spring and Autumn have moderate temperatures. Spring lasts from April to May and there are occasional thunderstorms. Autumn comes in September and October and the foliage changes from green to brilliant shades of rust. Average temperatures range between 50 to 60 o F. Winter months are relatively cool with occasional snowfall. December to February has the lowest temperatures.
