The foundation of Wheelock College was laid by Lucy Wheelock in 1888. It actually started as a kindergarten teacher training class, which later incorporated other programs. There are three schools in the College namely: the School of Social Work and Family Studies, the School of Arts and Sciences, and the School of Education and Child Life. Practice, theory, research, and policy are all integrated together while imparting education. The students are trained in advanced problem-solving, oral and written communication skills, human development, multiculturalism, social justice and critical reasoning.
