Thomas M. Menino is serving as the Mayor of Boston, Massachusetts, United States since 1993. After the last election in 2005, he continues as the Mayor of Boston till date (2007). Menino is of Italian-American origin. He won his first term of Mayorship on November 2, 1993 with 64% votes from 18 wards of the city. He was re-elected for a second time in 1997 without any opposition party. His third term of Mayorship, began after the election in November 2001. The fourth election in 2005 with 68% votes confirmed him to be the most competent and popular Mayor of Boston.
During his tenure as the Mayor of Boston, he implied many measures to improve the living standards of Boston. He was the President of the United States Conference of Mayors from 2002-2003. Mayor Menino is a resident of Hyde Park in Boston. Born in 1942, he was a graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas High School. Mayor Menino cleared an associate's degree in advertising, sales and business management from Chamberlayne Junior College in 1963. He achieved a degree in community planning from the University of Massachusetts in the year 1988.
Thomas M. Menino was awarded the Director's Award by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Boston was considered the first city in the country to solve the local problems successfully and plan out a progressive growth in future under the guidance of Thomas Menino.
