New England Aquarium


New England Aquarium was established to experience the vivid life of underwater organisms and also to connect people to the waterfront of Boston. It was opened for public visits on 20th June, 1969. The Boston aquarium houses an IMAX theater, which is the only 3D theater in Boston. The theatre has been inaugurated in December 2001. The New England Aquarium in Boston displays organisms of various species such as little blue penguins, amazing jellies, sea dragons, rockhopper penguins, fur seals, harbor seals, African penguins and many more.

Exhibits at New England Aquarium

A wide variety of colorful jelly fishes are considered as the special exhibits of the aquarium. The West Wing Gallery of the Aquarium covering 5,000-square-foot area exhibits thousands of different species of jelly fishes. Along with these jelly fishes, exotic habitats such as a Palauan Lagoon, and unusual creatures, like the monitor lizard are also featured here. These amazing species of sea creatures are exhibited in an interesting way thus describing the influence
of human on the oceans, which led to their rise in population. Whale watching is considered as one of the most exciting aspects of the New England Aquarium.

Galleries in New England Aquarium

The Aquarium has a number of galleries like Giant Ocean Tank, Northern Water Gallery, Fresh Water Gallery, Gulf Marine, Tropical Gallery and Harbor Islands. The Tropical Gallery is a must visit in the aquarium, which is located on the first floor. The glow-in-the-dark Caribbean flashlight fish and the color-changing cuttlefish are some of the prime attractions of New England Aquarium, which captivates tourists from around the globe. The Fresh Water Gallery is another interesting place to visit displaying the organisms that has been collected from the forests of the Amazon River Basin and from the rivers of New England. To enjoy the creatures of the colder regions, tourists must visit the Gulf of Maine and Northern Waters gallery.
