Franklin Park Zoo sprawls over an area of 72-acre of land in the historic Franklin Park of Boston. The park has been considered as the “crown jewel” of Frederick Law Olmsted’s Emerald Necklace Park System. The Franklin Park Zoo in Boston was established in 1913 and houses some rare species of animals including the African lions, Masai giraffe, gorillas of the Tropical Forest and other animals from around the world.

The visiting hours of Franklin Park Zoo change during summer season and winter season. The summer hours are valid from April 1st to September 30th. During this period, on the weekdays the zoo is open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on weekends and major holidays from
10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The winter hours span from October 1st to March 31st. On these months the zoo

remains open throughout the week from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Animals at Franklin Park Zoo
The zoo is a home to various species of animals like Gorillas, giraffe, kangaroos, zebras, wildebeests, ostrich ibex and many more. The 3-acre Tropical Forest houses some of the most fascinating animals of the zoo such as ocelots, ring-tailed lemurs, dwarf crocodiles and mandrills. The captivating Bird's World is situated across the Tropical Forest featuring birds from the swamp, scrub lands and wetlands.
Although the zoo remains open all throughout the year, the best time to visit Franklin Park Zoo is during the winters. During the winters Franklin Farm Barn, the signature Tropical Forest Bird’s World and Little Critters can be visited.
