Boston Cultural Council (BCC) is under the supervision of the Mayor's Office of Arts, Tourism and Special Events. The responsibility of Boston Cultural Council is to circulate funds that is allocated by the Massachusetts Cultural Council to various branches of art. The fund is allocated to patronize innovative arts, humanities and interpretive sciences to improve the quality of life in Boston.
BCC can allocate grants up to $5,000, which can be distributed in following two categories:
- Programming grants that is used to conduct annual cultural programs, educational and the municipal units that serve the residents of Boston.
- Performing Arts Student Series (PASS) Program grants are used to compensate the

admission charges of students to carry out arts events that are sponsored by cultural organizations, primarily serving the city.
The Cultural Council of Boston members constitute of the residents of the city who are appointed by the Mayor. The Council members serve the council for six years each. The selection process of these members is made on the basis of their dedication to the Boston's cultural community including their mastery on any specific disciplines.
The applications, that BCC receives is annually reviewed during consecutive fall meetings. These meetings are carried on to assess the complete quality of suggested programming and its potential to benefit the huge audiences in the neighborhoods of Boston.
