Boston Aquarium is also known as the New England Aquarium. It is located in Central Wharf area in Boston. The Aquarium made its debut on June 20, 1969. The Boston Aquarium was mainly designed to provide a thrilling underwater experience for the visitors from all round the world and to be a cultural institution to reconnect Boston with its waterfront.
The Boston Aquarium has grown a lot in the past 30 years. The society has developed several programs in order to preserve and spread the awareness about marine life. At the center of the Aquarium is the 200,000 gallon Giant Ocean Tank, which has a Coral Reef environment filled with all kinds of sea turtles, sharks, stingrays, tropical fishes and moray eels.
The Boston Aquarium is open every day except on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. The time periods are extended during the summer season. The current ticket rates are $17.95 for general admission. For children aged 3 to 11, admission rates are $9.95 and for children below three, it's free. The IMAX Theater frequently features 3D movies spotlighting on sea animals and their habitats. The movie admission rates are different. The Boston Aquarium is within walking distance from Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall.
