Boise is the capital of Idaho, the U.S state. The abundant green trees at the site, gave the city the name Boise which means "wooded". It is also known as 'City of Trees'. Boise was incorporated as a city in 1864. It then became the capital of Idaho in 1865 replacing Lewiston. It is the county seat of Ada County and the principal city of the Boise metropolitan area, the Treasure Valley. The city is also the largest city in the state.
