Bangor is a city in the U.S state of Maine. In 1791, the settlers from the area decided to incorporate it into a town. Earlier known as the "The Queen City of the East", it was a center of the timber and logging business in the 19th century and was said to be the richest city per capita in the world. It is the county seat of Penobscot County and also a major commercial center for eastern, central and northern Maine. It is now the third-largest city in Maine.



Area & Location: Lies on Penobscot River, the city is located at 44°48'39? Latitude North and 68°46'59? Longitude West. The city has a total area of 90.0 sq. km with 89.2 sq, km of land and 0.8 sq. km of water. The city has a population of 31,473 with a density of 352.7 per sq. km.
