Primarily it was founded as Augusta Area Vocational Technical School and then it was compounded with Richmond Area Vocational School in 1966. This time it was renamed to Augusta Area Technical School and then again in1987 it was renamed to Augusta Technical Institute.
Augusta Technical Collage is governed by The Georgia Department of Technical and Adult Education. Augusta Technical Collage serves the needs of business, industry, and the public in east central Georgia.
