Urbis is an exhibition centre that highlights on city life and is situated at the heart of Manchester. The exhibition programme of Urbis examines minutely the culture and dynamism of the cities of the world. It features photographs, architecture, music, contemporary art, design and many more. Numerous thought-provoking events are organized at Urbis including workshops, family activities, tours and talk shows. The building also houses a stylish café, rooms for corporate hire, a restaurant, a bar and shops that are packed with original gift ideas.
Urbis is situated in Cathedral Gardens in Manchester City Centre, very close to Victoria Station. The exhibition centre can easily be accessed by tram, bus, train and car or on foot. The admission in Urbis is free. It is open daily from 10.00 am to 6.00 pm. During special events the centre closes early.

The Introduction to Urbis tour spans for nearly 35 minutes and is scheduled at 1.00 pm every day. Manchester's music history can be witnessed at the Factory records Tour and the 60s Magical Music Tour.
The building of Urbis is unique, which was designed by Ian Simpson. There are five floors in the exhibition centre where the different floors showcase different exhibits. The fourth floor exhibits articles focusing on life in Manchester and temporary exhibitions are organized on the other floors that continue for three to five months.
