Manchester Town Hall is one of the biggest monuments, which is located in Albert Square. It stands as the greatest example of the Neo Gothic style of architecture. Alfred Waterhouse, a famous architect of the time, designed this monument. The height of this town hall is 286 feet and the construction of the hall was completed in 1887.
Town Hall of Manchester houses two separate buildings - The Old Town hall and Town Hall extension. Peter Street, Princess Street, St Peter’s Square and Albert Square border the entire complex. This Victorian structure is decorated with mosaic floors, domed corridors and spiral staircases and features Ford Madox Brown's 12 wall murals. Ford Madox Brown was well known as a painter of Pre Raphaelite era. His murals depict different important events that marked the evolution of Manchester city.

The statue of Roman Governor General Agricola, who is regarded as the founder of Manchester during AD 79 and the Mamuciam fort is displayed in the main entrance of the hall. Besides, this hall includes statues of some of the popular personalities of Manchester. The statue of Duke of Lancaster wearing Roman costumes is kept in this hall.
