The Future Sound of London


The Future Sound of London or the FSOL is an English electronic music band, based in Manchester. Brian Dougans and Garry Cobain are the two most influential performers of the Future Sound of London. They have been associated with the activities of the band for the past fifteen years. The contributions of these twin performers cover almost all areas of electronic music, including pure ambient, bass and drum, ambient techno, ambient dub and trip-hop. Their inclination towards experimenting with the original musical compositions of various artists like David Sylvian, Jon Anderson, Apollo 440, Curve, Gary Lucas and Curve have resulted in the production of complex, fresh remixes of completely different dimensions.

History of the Future Sound of London

The evolution of the Future Sound of London dates back to the 1980s. Prior to the formation of the organization, Dougans was engaged in electronic music compositions in different local clubs of Manchester. Together with Cobain, Dougans worked on a video album called the “Stakker Humanoid”, on behalf of the Stakker graphics company. The release of this album brought fame to the twin performers. This was the beginning of proper professional music career
for Cobain and Dougans. Some of their composed albums are the “Papua New Guinea”, “Tales of Ephidrina”, “Dead Cities”, “Landmass” and many more. It was after a series of successes of Cobain and Dougans, the Future Sound of London was formed. Very recently, the band uploaded numerous musical collections online.
