The Rochdale Pioneers Museum was inaugurated in April 1931 in a building, in which the first store of the Rochdale Equitable Pioneers Society was opened on 21st December in 1844. Presently, the museum is a place visited by thousands of international and British co-operators, school children, historians and tourists every year. The Rochdale Equitable Pioneers Society or the Rochdale Pioneers was a co-operative society that initiated the co-operative movement. The name of the society is famous throughout the world as a well-known co-operative society.
The museum is located at 31 Toad Lane in a historical area, at the end of the Rochdale Exchange Shopping Precinct, which is sited on Hunters Lane. It is easily accessible by car, train and bus. The opening hours of Rochdale Pioneers Museum are from 10 AM to 4 PM from Tuesday to Saturday and from 2 PM to 4 PM on Sunday.
