Futuresonic is a major urban festival celebrating different forms of music and art. Live events, exhibitions, talks and workshops are held throughout various cultural spaces across Manchester. Established in 1995, the Futuresonic 1996 Festival held in the month of September was a grand success. The organizer of Futuresonic Festival is FutureEverything CIC, which is a non-profit 'community interest company'. It has hosted successful projects in countries like Asia, N America, Europe and South America.

Futuresonic Festival 2008 will be celebrating its 12th year from 1-5 May. The main theme of this festival is The Social- Social Networking Unplugged. For the first time, this is the only music festival promoting social networking as its prime theme. Conferences will also be arranged where leading musical personalities will participate. Among them Richard Stallman, the founder of Free Software Movement and Gerd Leonhard the music and media futurist will also take part. This year Futuresonic Art will be an added attraction. Works of international artists related to social networking would be the main idea behind this festival.
