Bee Gees

Bee Gees is a popular music band not only in Manchester, but across the world. The band comprises the three brothers — Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb. After its formation, the band instantly became a big success in the field of music in Manchester. Bee Gees was honored with multiple Grammy Awards in its forty years of music recording career. However, the two prominent phases of their success includes the harmonic "soft rock" during the late 1960s and early 1970s and the most popular disco music era in the late 1970s.

Biography of Bee Gees

The singers of the band of Bee Gees were born and brought up in the city of Manchester. Later they traveled to Australia and Brisbane during their childhood years. It was in these foreign lands, they started their musical careers. The brothers were globally recognized after they returned to England and performed for producer Robert Stigwood, which was a grand success. The Bee Gees in Manchester were prominent and best known for their tight three-tone harmonies that could be recognized instantly. The voices of these brothers blended perfectly and Barry was the lead vocalist. Robin mastered the clear vibrato music, which was the hallmark of the pre-disco style. Maurice sang in high and low harmonies that added a unique effect to their music. The three brothers wrote the lyrics for most of their hits. A survey said that the Bee Gees' record sales counted over 220 million and was considered as one
of the best-selling music records of the time.

Performances by Bee Gees

The live concert of Bee Gees in Las Vegas during the late 1997 had been the most famous performance of their career. After the performance, over 5 million copies of the Bee Gee albums were sold. This led the trio to a world tour of "One Night Only" concerts all around the globe. Two of the most famous performances were at Olympic Stadium in Sydney, Australia in March 1999 and at London's Wembley Stadium on September 5, 1998. In 1998, the band performed for the Saturday Night Fever first in the West End and then on Broadway. Both the shows were instant hits. The Bee Gees gave their last big performance, known as BG2K on December 31, 1999.

Maurice was the musical director of the Bee Gees during their concluding years as a musical band. After his sudden death on January 12, 2003, his surviving brothers decided to carry on the name "Bee Gees" in commemoration of their brother. But with time, they claimed to retire the group. The last release of Bee Gees was Robin's solo album ‘Magnet’.

Bee Gees were honored by too many Grammy Awards including the Best Pop Vocal Performance in 1977, Album of the Year - "Saturday Night Fever" in 1978, Best Arrangement of Voices – "Stayin' in 1978 Alive", Lifetime Achievement Award in 2000, Legend Award in 2003 and Hall Of Fame Award in 2004.
