A II Z


A II Z was one of the famous music bands of Manchester, which was immensely active and popular during the 1970s and 1980s. Music of this popular band was highly acclaimed across the world.

Manchester A II Z band was formed in the year 1979 and was disbanded in 1982. The band got its name from street-finder atlases. The musicians who were instrumental in the formation of A II Z in Manchester were Dave Owens, the vocalist, Gary Owens, the guitarist, Karl Reti, the drummer and Cam Campbell, who was in charge of the bass. Out of these band members, Dave and Gary Owens were brothers. The band came up in a time when there was a craze for the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. The band members got inspiration from other heavy metal bands like
Judas Priest, Black Sabbath and Deep Purple. Soon after its formation, A II Z was signed by an important music label named Polydor.

The debut album of the band was known as 'The Witch of Berkeley', which was recorded in 1980. The music of A II Z was similar to that of other bands like Motörhead, Weapon and Sweet Savage. Some of the famous songs of the band are 'No fun after midnight', 'Glastonbury massacre', 'Lay down, walking the distance', 'I'm the one who loves you' and 'Danger U.X.B'.

A II Z, a renowned British heavy metal band in Manchester ruled the charts from late 1970s to the early 1980s.
