808 State is the name of a music band that originated from Manchester. Since its formation in 1988, the 808 State band has experienced a wide spread acclamation throughout the country. Their music had ruled the British charts for several years. 808 State of Manchester is popular for its diversified style of music.
The members of 808 State band are Darren Partington, Graham Massey and Andy Barker. Martin Price and Gerald Simpson are the former members of this band. After forming the band the members launched their a hip hop styled EP. This EP was recorded under the banner Hit Squad Manchester. 'New build' was the first album of 808 State. It was released by the Creed Records owned by Martin Price in 1988 summer. Their debut album was known for the unique acid house sound of music.
Quadrastate was the second album of 808 State. At the time of recording, Simpson left the band and Darren Partington and Andrew Barker was recruited in his place. 'Pacific State' was one of the brilliant singles of this album that was widely played in clubs all over

Manchester and it even topped the UK music charts.
Other releases of 808 State were ' Ninety on ZTT' different singles like ' Cubic/ Olympic', 'Tunes Splits the Atom', and 'The Only Rhyme that Bites'. For the MC Tunes the band created a brilliant album. This album ‘Ninety’ was also launched in the United States.
808 State experienced a great success with Ex:EI album that was released in 1991. This album included vocals of different guest performers like Bjork and Bernard Sumner of New Order. Their next album, Gorgeous was released in 1992 and it featured the remake of 'One in Ten' a UB40 classic. This band produced many remixes for Bomb the Bass, Soundgarden and David Bowie.
In 1996 in collaboration with different artists like Soul Coughing's Michael Doughty, Lamb's Lousie Rhodes and Manic Street Preachers' James Dean Bradfield, 808 State released 'Don Solaris'. At the launch of this album a concert was organized in Manchester's Castlefield Amphitheater in June 1996.
808 State's remarkable contributions are remembered by music lovers not only in UK but across the globe.
