Horsenden Hill, one of the highest tips of Capital Ring is the store house of rare flora and fauna.

History and features of Horsenden Hill

Being one of the highest tips of Capital Ring walk, Horsenden Hill offers a spectacular panoramic view across the western region of London and the surrounding countries of Berkshire, Surrey, Buckinghamshire, Essex and Hertfordshire. The peak of Horsenden Hill is 84 meter high from the level of sea. The scenic view of Wembley Stadium and Harrow on the Hill is also captivating. The history of Horsenden hill dates back to thousands of years and boasts of a great archaeological significance with prominent evidence of an Iron Age settlement.

Location of Horsenden Hill


Situated in the London Borough of Ealing, the eastern and southern regions of the hill are encompassed by the Grand Union Canal while the south western area includes the Perivale Wood Bird Reserve. Horsenden Hill was used as an ‘anti-aircraft battery’ spot during the Second World War in order to guard the regional factories from air raids.

Flora and fauna of Horsenden Hill

Horsenden Hill region is the home to a wide diversity of flora and fauna. The region has various rare plants, wild flowers and grasses. The marshland of the region is the habitat of numerous water birds. Apart from that, rare types of white and purple hairstreak butterflies and several species of birds are also found in the woodlands of Horsenden Hill.
