The location and history of Tate Liverpool

Located in Liverpool, which is also known as the Port city of England, the Tate Art Museum is one of the four Tate Art galleries encompassing the famous Tate Collections. The gallery showcases collections from the 1500's to the present day contemporary art forms. The other three Tate Museums are known as Tate Modern, Tate Great Britain and Tate St. Ives and are located in London and Cornwall respectively. In order to make the Tate Collection available in the North of England, the Tate Art Gallery was established in Liverpool in the year 1988. This Tate gallery played an important role in uplifting the cultural status of the city and provided it with a fresh status from the typical port culture which Liverpool was associated with in the past. The Tate Gallery in Liverpool is housed at Albert Dock which is one of the famous nineteenth century buildings.

Collections and activities at Tate Liverpool

The world famous Tate Collections are showcased at Tate Art Museum, Liverpool through various theme displays which undergoes a transformation at regular intervals. The upcoming exhibition at the gallery features the work of 'Gustav Klimt: Painting, Design and Modern Life in Vienna 1900'. There are multifarious activities and events that take place in the Tate Art Gallery. From workshops to school visits, different programs are held all round the year. More than 70 people work at the Tate Art Gallery of Liverpool.

One can reach the Tate Art Gallery at Liverpool by train, bus or by foot. It is in close proximity to the Liverpool Lime Street Station. People who come by car can use the multistory car parking zone, which is just five minutes afar from the Tate Art Gallery.
