Speke Hall


Located in a scenic landscape, the Speke Hall is an impressive structure near Liverpool.

Next to the Liverpool Airport stands the Speke Hall, a favorite spot among vacationers interested in excursions from Liverpool. The wonderful architecture of the Speke Hall, the picturesque landscape and the serene ambiance makes it a charming tourist spot.

Speke Hall- location and accessibility

Located at a distance of 8 miles from the city center, the Speke Hall is also accessible via railway. The nearest train stations are Hunt's Cross and Liverpool South Parkway, both 2 miles away. The M56 highway offers access to this attraction.

Speke Hall- the building and its surroundings

The Speke Hall was built in 1530. Additions and alterations followed. The massive structure encompasses various parts showcasing the architectural influence of different times. The fascinating features of the Spake Hall include the following:
  • Victorian style- evident in the Oak Parlor, rooms decorated with William Morris wallpapers, kitchen, servants hall.

  • Tudor style- displayed in the Great Hall and priest quarters.

  • Jacobean influence- the pieces of furniture and plasterwork date back to the Jacobean times.
The Speke Hall commands a splendid view of the surrounding Mersey basin. The scenery of the North Wales Hills can also be viewed from the high bank or the Bund. The well-laid garden around the hall comprises of flower beds, rose garden and water bodies.

Home Farm- a Victorian style farm

A stroll though the woodlands would take you to Home Farm, constructed according to the model of a farm of Victorian times. The Home Farm is equipped with modern facilities like a shop, a restaurant and other necessary facilities. A children's park and an orchard are also located in the adjoining area.

Speke Hall- opening hours and tickets

The opening hours of the Grounds are 11.00am to 5.30pm in the months of March-October and 11.00am to dusk in November-March. The Spake Hall is open from 1.00pm to 5.30pm during March-October and 1.00pm to 4.30pm during November-December. A nominal fee is charged for entrance.
