This area is popular as a track for jogging, where the local league football association conducts matches on every weekend. Sefton Park Cricket Club is also included in the park area. In addition, Moscow State Circus, Africa Oyé and Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra organized their programs at this park.
Sefton Park incorporates a lake area, tennis courts and a Palm House which has been recently renovated. Previously the lake was well-known as a popular boating area. A statue of Peter Pan, refurbished at the Liverpool Conservation Centre, has been placed at the Palm House. This wonderful park of Liverpool included a well planned 'open-air theatre' named 'The Concert' which was used for several music programs and talent search competitions for local children. Since Sefton Park of Liverpool also incorporated a gallop, natives used to call this park as "The Jockey Sands" or "the Hyde Park of the North". The Sefton Park Liverpool is expected to be renovated very soon, and works will start from June, 2007.
