Royal Liverpool Philharmonic


Royal Liverpool Philharmonic was established in 1849. It was destroyed in a fire that broke out in 1933. In 1939 it was rebuilt. It has been a popular venue for various social events, concerts, plays and so on.

"The best in Europe" as called by Sir Thomas Beecham, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic has significantly contributed to the cultural scenario of the European Capital of Culture, Liverpool. It was founded on 27th August 1849. The present building that houses this hall was designed by Herbert Rowse in 1939 after the original building was destroyed in a fire in 1933.

Reopening of Royal Liverpool Philharmonic:

When Royal Liverpool Philharmonic was reopened in 1939 it became a venue for various concerts as well as a movie theater. The hall was renovated in 1995 spending £10.3 million. The architecture of this hall is sure to leave you spellbound. The design of the reception area resembles that of the tomb of Tutankhamen.

Royal Liverpool Philharmonic has been a famous venue that houses various events, plays, comedy, concerts, film screenings and so on. Some popular film screenings include The Philadelphia Story, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Memoirs of a Geisha. The Beatles, Buddy Holly, The Rolling Stones and others have also performed at the Philharmonic hall.

started their career from this hall. Some of the famous artists who have performed here include Jamie Cullum, Willy Nelson, Jimmy Carr, Dara O' Brian, Morrissey Cullum, Tony Bennett, Joan Baez, Sigur Ros, Nitin Sawhney, Blondie and many more.

Booking at Royal Liverpool Philharmonic:

Booking can be done at the counter from Monday to Saturday between 10 am to 5:30 pm. On Sundays, telephone booking can be done between 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Booking can also be done by post. Philharmonic Hall also gives the opportunity of online booking. Credit cards are accepted here.

Royal Liverpool Philharmonic - A Popular Venue for Different Events:

Being one of the finest art deco buildings of England, Philharmonic Hall is preferred by corporate clients as a venue for conferences. The auditorium is perfect for arranging seminars, meetings, etc. It is an ideal place for receptions and other social events as well. The seating arrangement offers a clear view of the stage. Catering service is offered by the Brasserie at the Phil restaurant.

You can also visit the Rubato-the Cafe Bar before or after a show or during interval. This is the right place to enjoy sandwiches, soups, salads, paninis, coffee and other light snacks. You can also relax and enjoy a drink at the Philharmonic Hall's Grand Foyer.

Royal Liverpool Philharmonic is also home to the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. It forms an integral part of the cultural life of Liverpool.
